Discover Clevedon, via the BID, fund a variety of projects designed to enhance the town’s appeal, support local businesses, and foster a vibrant community. Our investment helps to create a welcoming and dynamic environment that benefits businesses, residents, and visitors alike. These efforts not only boost the local economy but also contribute to the town’s long-term growth and sustainability, ensuring Clevedon remains a thriving destination for all.

Marketing & Promotion

Light up the Pier
The 2024 Light up the Pier received £5,000 of BID funding to showcase it’s beauty during the festive season.
Christmas Illuminations 2024
The 2024 Christmas Lift-Off event was a spectacle to observe, organised by HAB traders and part funded by Discover Clevedon. This event brought late night shopping, food, music and even Santa all with the backdrop of stunning festive lights to launch Christmas season in Clevedon.
Clevedon Music Festival
Bringing music and dancing to the town, we fund this free music event in Queens Square with street food, gin and cider stalls. A family event to be enjoyed by all bringing joy to the town centre.
Tourism attraction
Discover Clevedon produces branded promotional leaflets and products to help build the profile of Clevedon as a visitor destination in North Somerset.

Public Realm & Environmental Improvements

To make Clevedon more attractive for businesses, residents, and visitors.

Greening Clevedon
We know that green enhancements improve high streets and boost retail performance, and even has a measurable impact on property value. Maintained green spaces have a positive impact on tourism figures and mental health. We invest in enhancing Clevedon’s environment, making it an attractive place to visit and spend time. Discover Clevedon funds hanging baskets, planters, and groups to maintain public spaces, improving the town’s overall look and feel.
Public galleries
Displays across the town such as the Doris Hatt boards in Queen’s Square and in the Sixways bus stop showcase Clevedon’s history and talent and provide attractive outdoor gallery spaces for visitors and residents to enjoy.
Spaces to play
The play space in Alexandra Gardens was part funded by Discover Clevedon and organised by passionate and dedicated shop owners, offering a wonderful place for children and adults to enjoy.
History Boards
Clevedon is steeped in history, and the boards on display around the town tell its story. With 13 on display around the town they create a history trail.
Pretty promotional signs
Pretty promotional signs help visitors discover the multitude of boutique shops and businesses around Clevedon.
Visitor maps and signs
Discover Clevedon produces and funds signage and maps to keep residents and visitors informed of where to go and what to see & do. 12 maps and a community board in Alexandra gardens offer welcomed wayfinding prompts.
Community boards
Community boards keep residents and visitors informed of events and businesses in Clevedon, and act as wayfinding prompts.
Iconic views
We fund local groups to maintain greenery and trim trees, ensuring that Clevedon's stunning vistas are always on display.

Engagement, Influence & Investment

To build business community, improvement and perceived value of the BID. To be a respected voice of Clevedon and influence public agency.

Building business community
The role of the Business Improvement District organisation is to build business community, improvement and perceived value funded activities. We host members networking opportunities, learning sessions, traders meetings and other events to build business community and sense of belonging. We regularly communicate with our members via a monthly newsletter and face to face meetings.
Advocating for local businesses
We act as a trusted voice and advocate for local businesses and provide liaison with stakeholder groups including the North Somerset Council and Town Council. When topics such as parking charges, planning applications and re-developments arise we facilitate engagement, representation and opportunities for businesses to have their say.
Business improvement opportunities
We share information on grants and funding opportunities, business support opportunities, training, and networking opportunities through our members newsletters.
