The Curzon – from Titanic to Pandemic

© Kym Grimshaw
Chief executive Susannah Shaw unveils the fascinating history of one of the oldest continuously-running purpose-built cinemas in the world, with a contribution from Aardman’s Gromit.

All of us at the Curzon would like to thank you for your generous support so far. Unfortunately, as the months go on the Curzon approaches a dire financial situation. Now, more than ever your contributions matter.

There are three ways to support the Cinema:

  1. Donate by visiting our Fundraising Page
  2. Purchase Gift Vouchers online, to use once the cinema reopens – or for someone as a promise for the future.  Or why not, for our heroes in the NHS and Care Workers. This is a lovely, positive way to say thank you, and look forward.
  3. Tag-a-Tile, leave a message on one of our new roof tiles,  but hurry – these will be going up on the roof soon!

We understand that not everyone is able to part with money during this difficult time and helping us get the word out about our situation is also hugely appreciated, be it on social media or out there in the real world. Thanks to the resilience and the passion of our community, the Curzon has made it through two world wars, the rise of the multiplex and the advent of streaming. With your help we hope to be back in that auditorium with you soon, as the organ plays, waiting for the show to begin.
