The Clevedon Community Bookshop Celebrate National Poetry Day With An Evening Of Readings
Poets in North Somerset are invited to celebrate National Poetry Day with the Clevedon Community Bookshop this year, on October 7, by taking part in a special evening of readings in Clevedon.
The event, organised by the Clevedon Community Bookshop, will be held in the St Andrew’s Church Centre, close to where Alfred Lord Tennyson’s beloved friend, Arthur Hallam, is buried.
Poets will be asked to submit up to four original poems from which the judges can make their selection.
The evening will also include readings from two anthologies by Clevedon poets – Sibling Poets by brother and sister Jonathan and Jenny Bradley and Let The Good Rhymes Roll by Peter Gibbs – both books available on Amazon and at the town’s Books On The Hill.
National Poetry Day is a UK-wide celebration of poetry, taking place on 7th October 2021. National Poetry Day is a Forward Arts Foundation initiative that encourages all to enjoy, discover and share poetry. They champion excellence in poetry and grow audiences through National Poetry Day, the Forward Prizes for Poetry and annual Forward books. You can find resources, workshops, writing guides and more information on the National Poetry Day website.
