If you go down to the Brockley woods today, you’re sure for a fun day and plenty of surprises!
The founder of At Play In The Woods, Sam Harrison has worked with children in play development setting for years and has helped countless schools develop woodland exploration sessions within North Somerset. Since 2017 Sam decided to focus on his own project with a fixed base for Bristol and North Somerset for forest school leaders to use as well as a venue for birthday parties and events.
We joined Sam and the team for a 3 hour session, touring the woodland in search of pictures of animals with stops along the way to discover the creatures who live there.
From ages 1 and up, the sessions are inclusive and fun for the whole family.
After a walk around the beautiful woodland, you’re welcome to stay and play in the most exciting of settings for little ones. From mud kitchens, painting, a very popular hose pipe, swings and play equipment, children are emerged in the outdoors with plenty of space to feel free to do as they choose.
Prepare for a little mud! That’s one of the main attractions for the children and such a great excuse to get messy!
Sam is passionate about what he does and it shows. His enthusiasm and leadership skills are what makes the sessions so worthwhile. Come rain or shine, the sessions run all year round with plenty of “indoor” activities to do around the campfire.
You can bring a packed lunch, there’s plenty of places to change nappies and there are marshmallows for toasting with biscuits to make smors! What more could a child ask for.
At Play In The Woods hold plenty of different events for all ages and abilities. Why not join them for an exciting book signing event with Ade Bowen? Enjoy a story within the woods and take a signed copy home for yourself too! Follow the link here for more details and how to book.
