Lucie – Tudball Opticians
Tell us about your business. What services do you provide?
We provide private sight testing, and also dispensing of fantastically quirky, colourful, one off glasses. We also do audiology – we have an audiologist here Wednesdays and Thursdays, doing wax removal and hearing services.
How did you start your business? What’s the story?
I was a locum optician, and John Adams who was the director here contacted me to cover, so I started doing one day a week. Sadly he had a terminal illness and wanted to sell the business, and asked me if I wanted to buy it. So I did – that was 10 years ago now. I’m very glad I took the leap!
What is the best thing about running a business in Clevedon?
The wonderful people. They don’t feel like patients, they are all friends. I’ve known them for years. If they have family visiting they bring them in to introduce them. It’s just such a wonderfully friendly place, there’s a such sense of community. It’s just a pleasure coming into work every day.
