Welcome to our blog series, telling the stories behind the businesses in nClevedon.
Rachel and Zac – Nimble Osteopathy
Tell us about your business. What services do you provide?
Zac: We provide osteopathic treatment. We work primarily with specialising in diagnosis, management, and treatment of musculoskeletal symptoms. Musculoskeletal is anything to do with bone, muscle, joint, ligament, – anything that allows you to walk, to move to run.
As an osteopath we are trained to manage, diagnose and treat those conditions. But the difference with Nimble clinic is that we have a movement studio which is here for pilates, balance and movement, we also have a gym which is here for all rehabilitative strengthening and conditioning work, personal training, and all the treatments as well. We all work together here, where the ethos is to get people moving, get them enjoying things and back into the sports they love.
Rachel: We are also giving them the understanding of how their body moves and the confidence to live healthier and get fitter so they don’t need to come back into treatment unless they want to.
How did you start your business? What’s the story?
Rachel: We met at university and then when I graduated I moved up to Cumbria and Zac followed me a year later when he graduated. At that time we were both working for other people. Zac went independent up there and was very successful. Then family bought us home, and the weather! We came back towards our family home – by putting a pin in a map and ending up with Bristol. However we were a bit city shy after living in the country and so we ended up on a random trip to Clevedon, we ate faggots in Tiffin and stayed at what became Mary’s looking out at the channel and had the best experience. This was in 2014, and we decided to move here, initially working for other people and then in 2018 I brought Nimble and Zac joined me the year later. In 2021 we purchased the property where we are now.
What is the best thing about running a business in Clevedon?
Zac: One of the lovely things is all the independent businesses we have around here. By one business doing well it means we’ve all done well, and we all celebrate and support each other. It’s not competitive at all, and we feel it is like a family.
Rachel: We love being able to nip out in between treatments and sample all the delights of the businesses around us.
