Spinning Weal Get Crafty To Celebrate The Shops Re-Opening

With the shops re-opening today, Hill Road’s haberdashery, Spinning Weal have gone the extra yard by involving the local craft community and decorating the street with knitted covers for street bollards.

Lots of local knitters have been involved in what has been the perfect socially distanced community arts project: the knitting has been done by individuals in their own homes, and the bollards are 2m apart, meaning distance can be kept as each bollard is dressed.

Spinning Weal said “The town will be open for business, and the small independent retailers have some catching up to do after a difficult year. Anything which helps to make an event of the reopening is going to be a good thing. It has been great to involve the knitters too. Many of them live alone, and this has been a fun thing for them to be part of. So far we have had lots of covers dropped in at the shop, some with flowers, one with bees on it, one with seagulls. All of them are brightly coloured and each one is unique!”

Gems Of Clevedon voiced their support for the decorations, echoing the appreciation from

both locals and shopkeepers alike!
