Green Shift Festival

Green Shift is a fresh 2-day festival curated in partnership with Sustainable Clevedon, exploring how we can take small steps to create a big impact towards a low-carbon, sustainable future for our planet. Featuring a host of talks, workshops, films and live music and comedy, the weekend will have something to interest everyone. Tickets are available as day tickets or 2-day weekend passes.

2:00pm: Doors open


2:30pm: Natalie Fee: ‘How to Save the World for Free’

Natalie is an award-winning environmentalist, author, inspirational speaker and founder of City to Sea, a not-for-profit organisation running campaigns to stop plastic pollution.

3:45pm: Political Panel: Net Zero
 Representatives from the main political parties give their pitches for how they will tackle the climate crisis if they win the next General Election. Featuring Ash Cartman (Liberal Democrats), Rt Hon Sir Liam Fox MP (Conservative), Oscar Livesey-Lodwick (Green), Pete Templeton (Labour).

5.00pm: Panel Discussion: Climate Justice
 Learn what Climate Justice means, its importance to the movement and how to centre it in our communities, with a lively panel discussion from leading practitioners and educators.

6:30pm Feature Film: Can You Dig This

The inspiring story of the ‘Gangsta Gardeners’ of South Central LA bringing unity, knowledge and sustenance via an urban gardening revolution in their communities.

7:50pm Live Music: Seth Bye (Filkin’s Drift)
 Saturday rounds off with a live musical performance by Seth Bye, a composer and fiddle player who has performed in venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Cecil Sharp House and the Alexander Stadium.
Seth’s compositions take inspiration from local people and places across the British Isles. His work focuses on regional identity and the cultural heritage of an individual location, capturing the essence of landscapes and communities through the medium of music.

10:00am: Free activities for school children

We’re kicking off Sunday with a morning of free activities for school children, including screenings of short films that have been made by students at All Saints, Yeo Moor, Baytree, and Clevedon Schools as well as a craft workshop in the Oak Room with wonderful creators extraordinaire, Let’s Make Art.

2:15pm: North Somerset Council and Clevedon Town Council
 Representatives from North Somerset Council and Clevedon Town Council open day two with presentations on what is happening locally to address the climate crisis and suggestions on how we can all work together to help.

3:15pm: Dr Matt Winning
 The comedian and environmental researcher known for his Ted-X talk, award-winning comedy, BBC Radio 4 show and podcast joins us to bring some much-needed laughter to the topic of climate change.

4:00pm: Panel Discussion with Sustainable Clevedon
 Following presentations from the local Councils, co-hosts Sustainable Clevedon take to the stage to discuss their invaluable work and how you can get involved!

5:00pm: Presentation from Our Tide
 Our Tide exist to raise awareness about the subject of tidal power and its impact on the environment, focussing on the region surrounding the Severn Estuary and Bristol Channel. Two of their trustees, Brian Gribben and Iain Major join us to discuss their fascinating work.

6:30pm: Feature Film: Common Ground The sequel to Kiss The Ground, starring Woody Harrelson, Jason Momoa, Laura Dern, Donald Glover. Revealing how unjust practices forged our current farm system while profiling a hopeful and uplifting movement of white, black, and indigenous farmers who are using alternative “regenerative” models of agriculture that could balance the climate, save our health, and stabilise economies – before it’s too late.

8:00pm: Live Music: Junkoactive Wasteman We close the festival with a madcap set of musical tinphonia beats from The Junkoactive Wasteman!
