The view across the water has inspired many a poet over the last few centuries. From Coleridge to Tennyson, and more recent works by local writers in the anthology “Writing On The Lake” published by The Clevedon Community Press which, like the bookshop, is part of Clevedon Community Bookshop Co-operative.

This year, the Clevedon Marine Lake,  Clevedon Literary Festival and the Community Bookshop Co-operative have come together to encourage more poetry about, or inspired by the lake.

Poems will be displayed where the Lake meets Poets Walk, on a blackboard on the Lake’s perimeter wall.

Now is the chance for the work of poets to be displayed in this outdoor setting where they will be seen and appreciated by the many thousands who visit the Lake each year. Each poem selected, with the name of the poet, will be displayed on the blackboard for two months and will be posted on the Marlens website and Facebook page.

Poems, up to a maximum of 12 lines, should be sent as an email attachment to clevedonfestival@gmail.com by 30 September 2020.

A small judging panel will choose each poem to be featured and judges will respond to all entries as appropriate.
