After huge success at the Clevedon Literary Festival in June, The Clevedon Community Bandstand returns with a live music event in Queen’s Square.

Funded by the Clevedon BID, this latest project, devised by two friends Maureen Ni Fiann and Cinzia Apreda, aims to bring vibrant multi cultural music to Clevedon.

On Saturday November 6th, the creators of the Clevedon Community Bandstand will create a stage in the corner of Queen’s Square from 1-4pm for passers by to stop and enjoy as they shop and sip coffee from one of the local boutiques and cafes.

The line up includes;

1pm Bayou Tapestry
Lively folk songs with passion about climate change
“The Bayou Tapestry started out about 4 years ago, attempting to play old cajun dance tunes from Louisiana. We still do that but also play songs of our own – mostly about imminent climate catastrophe and other happy-go-lucky themes. We appear regularly at street parties, local festivals and XR events. During lockdown, we began a world tour of bandstands – Clevedon being easily the nicest one we’ve found so far.”
2pm Hounds of Lounge
AKA Joanna and Nick of Ilya
The Hounds Of Lounge are singer Joanna Swan and guitarist Nick Pullin. Joanna and Nick make the duo ILYA who were signed to Virgin back in 2002 and released their album They Died For Beauty to massive critical acclaim. Today they perform in their other guise as The Hounds Of Lounge, performing classic songs from the 1930’s to 2000’s in their very individual style. Songs as diverse as Howling Wolf to Kylie Minogue and T.Rex to Peggy Lee.
3.15 pm Django Swing
Wonderful Gypsy Jazz
We are an acoustic trio of two guitars and double bass, playing music in the style of Django Reinhardt and the great Gypsy Jazz players who have been inspired by his music.”
4.15 pm Juggling Finale
